Customizing your kitchen splash back doesn’t have to be difficult. I love it when our customers ask for something extra. They have an idea in mind for their splash back area but it needs to be customized. It is more than just a photo or an image. This is where I can put some of my photoshop skills to good use and really try out different effects.
Recently we were asked to combine an image with a painting to create a customized kitchen splash back with extra special meaning for the client.
We started with a black and white image of the popular head of the lake scene. This is the iconic view from Bennett’s bluff. I have a lot of these images, as I pass it every time I go into town and I try to have my camera with me as you never know when you’ll get another stunning shot from this view point.
This time the scene was extended to go around the corner of the bench as a gas stove is close to wooden joinery and needs a glass splash back to meet the proper building codes of compliance.
This is also where we stress about getting everything lined up properly so the scene flows from one side to the other, and the mountains and lake all line up as they should. It really is worth taking the extra time needed to get this as exact as possible.
and now photoshop…
then I took photos of a painting of the horses and figures of dog and man (Dweeb for those of you who knew him) and blended them into the scene. The whole image is done in black and white and with the snow capped mountains and the snowy pasture for the horses it has turned into a very successful blended image. One that both myself and the clients are very pleased with.
